Back in May, the students at Lochburn Middle School celebrated a school year filled with outdoor adventures, creative arts, and cooking extravaganzas! This year marks our first annual awards ceremony for students at the Community Learning Centers (CLC) within our Lochburn site.

Every student who attended a YMCA CLC for 50 or more days (totaling 100 hours) received a certification and a star cup as a token of recognition for their dedication. In particular one student was honored as our top attendee, Amiyah Betaudier!

Amiyah attended our clubs for an impressive 100 days, totaling 200 hours! Her commitment and enthusiasm are truly inspiring.

“With this being my third year in this role, I got the opportunity to have an amazing final year in an amazing 8th-grade class,” said Dionte Simon, Program Director at Lochburn Middle School. “They had been with me since the beginning, and it was a pleasure to see them off. We also had an amazing 6th-grade class who came in and showed out all year. Last but not least, I cannot wait for the 7th graders to show their leadership skills as they become the top dogs.”

The success of the CLC program is made possible through a collaborative effort involving school districts, the Y, and 20 community agencies. Together, we are committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment that helps students thrive.

We offer numerous opportunities for students to improve their academics, social-emotional stability, and communication skills, whether it's through homework help, STEM projects, movie gatherings, or acting on the stage.

Community Learning Centers are designed with the foresight of what middle school students need during and after school hours.
