Scholarships at the YMCA help remove the financial barriers to accessing Y facilities, programs, and services. The scholarship provides individuals and families the opportunity to participate in the life-changing programs and services offered by the YMCA regardless of age, background, ethnicity, ability, or income. We’ll consider your income, household size, and special circumstances, and then determine a scholarship amount up to 50% to align with your unique situation. Our goal is to help everyone who qualifies for scholarships.
How to Apply for a Scholarship
The fastest way to receive a scholarship determination is to bring all income and benefit documentation for your household to the Center nearest you.
What you'll need:
Printed or Digital Income and benefit documentation for everyone in the household who shares in household expenses. Please provide documentation from each of the following if you receive them:
- Two months of paystubs
- Three months of profit-loss from self-employment
- Completed and filed tax return from last year
- Award letters for
- SNAP
- TANF
- SSI
- Disability
- Military Retirement/Disability
- Child Support
- Unemployment
If you are unable to make it to your local YMCA Center you can fill out the following application online. Response times for online applications will vary based on the number of applications received.

Through a partnership with the City of Lakewood, the YMCA is pleased to offer free scholarships for eligible Lakewood youth to attend YMCA Summer Day Camp.
