Y Break Camp Information and Policies
Campers needing special accommodations should consult with the Camp Director prior to registration and provide information on the the Camper Enrollment Form. The YMCA is not able to provide one-on-one care for campers but will work with families to provide reasonable accommodations to ensure a child's success in camp. A follow-up with the camp staff is requested to ensure that accommodations are able to be met.
All Y Camp staff are screened nationally and provided with a week of training that encompasses working with children, all aspects of camp programming, and preparing staff to be successful in a work environment. The Y also provides training in child abuse, and many staff are CPR and first aid certified. YMCA staff and volunteers are mandated child abuse reporters and are required to report any suspected child abuse to the proper authorities. Employees trained in first aid emergency response are always on site. Camp staff are not permitted to babysit, transport in personal vehicles, or have contact with campers outside of the YMCA. Providing a fun and safe experience for the campers is the main priority for the YMCA.
