Fitness Fest is a week-long celebration of all things fitness and wellness. Geared toward adults, the event is FREE and open to all. To help celebrate, we’ll be offering $0 join fees all week long from November 13-18 so bring a friend to explore all the activities that the Y has to offer.
At Fitness Fest, you’ll have the opportunity to explore activities, group exercise classes, run in one of our 5K events, compete against fellow members, and test your mettle in one of our Personal Record events.

Bremerton Family Y

Check out how you can enter our popular Lazyman Ironman, leave the ground behind and learn how to combine aerial and grounded asana in a suspension yoga workshop, or drive up the competition in a Winter 3v3 basketball tournament.
ACTIVITIES:
- Jump shot competition. Hit the court and show how to rise above the competition in our basketball face-off.
- Dance Beats demonstration. Burn away the stress and boost your endorphins to the beat of the music.
- Dodgeball tournament. Bring a crew or find a new team as you have fun while boosting your agility, speed, and hand-eye coordination.
- Suspension yoga demonstration. Using an adjustable sling for support, suspension yoga gives you’re the ability to perform complex posts and inversions with greater ease.
- Deadlift competition. Known as a primary lifting technique, deadlifts activate your core and are considered a must ina well-rounded fitness routine.
- Massage chair station. Take the time to help relieve muscle tension and pain with a massage therapist who works to lower your blood pressure and improve the quality of your rest.

Our morning Fitness Fest session features:
- Mini Personal Record Day leading up to our end of year Personal Record Day in December. Select from one weight lift or one body weight exercise.
- Pickleball is more than fast action on the court. Learn how to incorporate the fastest-growing sport in America into your strength and recovery approach.
- LED light group exercise classes designed for fun and movement, as you build endurance and boost your heart rate.
- Community partners including experts in nutrition, chiropractic needs, and coffee!
- Giveaways at the end of the session for participants!
Our evening Fitness Fest session features:
- Basketball skills competition. Drop in and catch some air with fellow hoopers on the court with a series of face offs, including a slam dunk competition, vertical jump competition, 3-point shot competition, and a grand final game of BUMP.
- Movement assessment. Meet with a health coach to learn about your current mobility and how to improve your flexibility, balance, and more.
- Community partners including experts in nutrition, chiropractic needs, and coffee
- Giveaways include retired barbells, bumper plates, and extra double resistance bands!

We’re hosting Ultimate Athlete Games to test your mettle, fitness and wellness stations to help you assess yourself or adjust your form when lifting or squatting, and areas to help you learn more about preventing chronic disease. You can also set a new Personal Record in Powerlifting, take part in our spike ball exhibition or tire flip competition, make some memories in our weightlifting-themed photo booth, or check out a new potential fitness class that sparks movement in you.
SCHEDULE:
12-6pm | Body Composition Analysis. Receive a full DEXA scan from the team at Body Spec. Pre-registration and fee is required and scans will be completed via the Body Spec team in a vehicle in the parking lot.
5-6pm | Ultimate Athlete Games. Participate in a series of mini bootcamp game challenges designed to be both competitive and fun. The winner of the games will receive a mini trophy to take home!

6-6:45pm | Surge Fit blacklight masterclass. Enter our performing arts studio for blacklights, glowsticks, and a sweaty good time. All white dress code recommended!
6:15-7pm | Basketball shoot-out competition. We’ll have rock jock jams pumping the gymnasium up as you participate in a series of basketball challenges. Can you outperform the competition and make it on the leaderboard?
7:15-8:15pm | COMMIT dance party. Sweat the night away with us in a high-energy, fun-filled dance session guaranteed to make you sweat, smile, and connect with new friends at the Y!
ACTIVITIES:
- Agility drills. Improve your coordination, prevent injury, and increase your control while maintaining proper alignment and posture as you move at our agility skills station.
- Compound lifting demonstrations. Compound lifting gives you a full-body workout, burns more calories, and helps you build strength for everyday living.
- Kickboxing demonstrations. Learn more about how kickboxing can improve your strength, heart health, and flexibility.
- Power yoga. With a focus on balance poses, power yoga is proven to build better balance at a faster flow rate for increased endurance and speed.
- Kettlebell training. Kettlebells can be incorporated into a variety of movements to keep your body and mind engaged and thriving.
- TRX demonstrations. TRX, or Total Resistance Exercises, give you the power to leverage gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises.
- Vertical therapy. Featuring a pull-up competition where you can build your muscular strength, coordination, balance, and more.
- Cryotherapy experts are on hand to help relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and speed your recovery time.
- "Know your numbers” station. Discover the indicators of good health and how you can shape yours in the future.
- Bodybuilding photo booth. Make memories with friends and fellow members that you can share and inspire others through an old school Polaroid camera.
- Smoothie bike. Make your own protein or pre-workout shake with vitamins and boosters from Super Supplements or meet with the team from Emerald City Smoothie.
- South Sound Running is on location to help you explore the benefits of running in your fitness routine.
- Soccer challenge course. Kick, dribble, and pass your way through our challenge course.
- Fix Your Lift. New to weight training or want extra support? Our team can help you perfect your deadlift form to make the exercise a safe and beneficial part of your repertoire.
- Mini-Murph challenge. A mini-Murph, or half-Murph, consists of an 800-meter run, 50 pull-ups, 100 push-ups, 150 squats, followed by another 800-meter run. Test yourself is this timed strength, endurance, and agility competition.
- Box jump challenge. Box jumps involve jumping from the floor onto a box or elevated surface. They are an excellent way to enhance explosive power, further develop strength through your lower body, improve vertical jump height, and generally improve athletic performance.
- Personal training station. Meet with personal trainers and learn more about how they can elevate your training approach in a dedicated 1:1 session. You can also compete in a plank challenge for a chance to win a Starbucks gift card.
- Mobility demonstrations. Speak with a coach and learn more about how to best move your joints inside their socket to increase your range of motion.
- Cornhole. Take a break from visiting our activity and information stations for a good old-fashioned game of cornhole!
- Innovative equipment station. Meet with the team at Giant Lifting and explore the latest and greatest in athletic training equipment.
- Sweet Sweat. Meet with the Sweet Sweat team and discover the products they have available to improve your workout experience.
- Take flight with Redbull. Representatives from Redbull are on location with free samples and giveaways!
- Ready to share your fitness knowledge with others? Learn more about career opportunities to teach others at the Y!
Mel Korum Family Y

5pm | Barre Class by YMCA360. Join a Mel Korum instructor in the Multipurpose Room as we take a 40-minute Barre class to build strength and stamina while improving balance.
5-8pm | Volleyball. Bump, set, and spike the evening away with some drop-in volleyball.
ACTIVITIES:
- Plank competition. Did you know your body should be able to hold a plank for at least 2 minutes? Test your core’s strength and build up endurance as you see how long you can hold a plank for against your fellow members and neighbors.
- Wall sit competition. This exercise is excellent for helping you to sculpt the muscles of your lower core, as well as your thighs and calves. The endurance you build will help to create stronger muscles.
- Mini Personal Record Day. Set a new personal record for yourself in the bench press in our weight room!
- Cornhole. Take a break from cardio and focus on your long-range hand-eye coordination in a spirited game of cornhole.
- Enjoy snacks, fruit infused water, and sample various kombuchas from local company Komadre Kombucha!
Tacoma Center Y and University YMCA Student Center

- Fix Your Squat. New to compound training or want extra support? Our team can help you perfect your form to make the exercise a safe and beneficial part of your repertoire.
- Pickleball Tournament. Learn how to incorporate the fastest-growing sport in America into your strength and recovery approach while you have fun connecting with members on the court.

- New equipment demonstrations. If you haven't used gym equipment before, the thought of using it incorrectly, especially when other people may be watching, can be intimidating. But don’t let that stop you from getting fit and having fun at the gym!
- Boxing demonstrations. Learn essential boxing techniques and participate in a rigorous workout with pads and bags. It is perfect for beginners or individuals who want to re-enter the sport and require guidance.
