Moving Forward with Pedaling for Parkinson's
While fast pedaling does not cure or stop the progression of Parkinson’s disease, there is compelling evidence to show that it does make a real difference in symptoms for most who try it. Research conducted at the Cleveland Clinic showed a 35% reduction in symptoms by the simple act of pedaling a bicycle at a rapid pace - optimally, 80-90 revolutions per minute.
It’s already changing the lives of increasing numbers of participants who, before Pedaling for Parkinson’s, depended just on medication and, eventually, surgery to cope with the effects of Parkinson’s disease. Please note that Pedaling for Parkinson’s is not intended as a substitute for prescribed medications.
Pedaling for Parkinson’s joined with the YMCA to help reach as many patients as possible. The Y has stationary cycles, trained professionals, and a mission to promote healthy living and community responsibility.
