Cops vs Teachers Check Presentation at Lakewood Family Y

The energy was electric during the 15 Annual Cops vs Teachers Charity Basketball Game. Out of 14 games played annually, the cops have won 6 times, and the teachers have won 8. Last night, the cops led the scoreboard and ultimately came on top.

However, with friendly competition aside, the Cops vs Teachers Annual Charity Basketball Game and Silent Auction goes far beyond the court. The camaraderie among our community was deeply felt throughout the evening.

Over the years, this charity event alone has been responsible for donating over one hundred thousand dollars to various families of officers who have fallen in the line of duty, children with significant health challenges, as well as nonprofit organizations that focus on supporting youth and families facing daily challenges.

This year the Lakewood Family YMCA is honored to have been the main benefactor of this amazing community event, which will help boost our Late Nite and Free Foster Care Membership program. With these additional funds, we look forward to providing a safe free space for teens in the Lakewood community.

“I want to thank the entire community for their effort in supporting youth in the foster care system and making sure that they have a free membership at the YMCA. Making sure that they have a place to call their own. As well as our Late Nite program that happens every Friday night, having a safe place for teens to be,” said Lakewood Family YMCA Executive Director Toby Roberts.
